Best Convert workflow for Sony PMW-300 XACAM to FCP
Question: 'Hi, I am using a FCP 7 Studio. I recently bought a Sony PMW 300K1 camcorder. The MXF files coming out of this camera are not recognized by FCP 7. Is there a way to handle this without converting the files? Is it possible to edit MXF files on FCP X directly?'
Answer: If you want to edit Sony PMW-300 MXF footage in FCP X, you will need to use the Sony XDCAM Transfer Utility to rewrap the PMW-300 XDCAM MXF into QuickTimes files. However, due to different computer environments, this would not always work as expected.
